We love the great outdoors so much we've moved to NZ (from California in 2006) and continue our local and worldwide adventures from our new home base. We'll keep you posted here.
Shynn's leaping over the Remarkable range, but Christian and Jaden assume the worst. D.R. gets a little extra air by leapfrogging it. Christian reaches for the sky. Kimball, sitting on a cloud.
New Zealand is the only country known to have the endangered two-headed elk. Llama lovin' Jaden wisely avoided the goats; his previous experience had been memorable but jarring. Lake Wakatipu in the background (and that's less than 1/4 of it)
Jaden ventures outside the van for the view of Waurua river. The woolly mammoth? These donkeys have found a funny bone and show no mercy.
D.R. spotted this landscape while driving and shot a pic (don't try this at home!) Cows hogging the road...again! Penguins coming out our ears (well Christian's anyway) An old steam engines, happily retired. Shynn and D.R. holding on tight to the Shotover River jetboat
It all began with a scenic drive up the valley with stops for rock throwing, photo-ops, skeleton collecting, and cow dodging. The Gilbirds are off at the start of the Rob Roy glacier hike! Since Jaden has learned to fly, hiking is a breeze. Don't look down Kimball... Christian's hiking stick is as giant-sized as the view.
Jaden prepares for an extreme ride down the mountain on a luge sled above Queenstown.
Christian just can't let go of the controls....no brakes!
Where can we get more money to ride the luge again? (and again and again...) This is the boys idea of a REAL schoolbus ride. Everyone got to drive, even Christian who was crazy and Jaden who drove us straight through the river and over cars.
Shynn, we're not convinced by that smile, the water looks COLD!
Christian paddled the whole way and even jumped off a rock and swam across the river back to the boat.
